The
The Raider’s Road is a
forestry toll road, open in the summer running between the A712 and the A 762
following the River Dee on a route described in “The Raiders” by S R Crockett
(see Laurieston), and used for cattle rustling. Along the road there is a picnic area beside the otter pool in the river,
with a statue of an otter and one beside the Stroan viaduct that once carried
the railway. There are forest sculptures
along the way and in the summer there is a festival where people are encouraged
to go and build their own. A number of walks and cycle ways may also be
found along the way.
